The Texas Hill Country’s natural beauty is one of the reasons PEC’s service territory has seen unprecedented growth in recent years. This rapid growth comes with the potential to diminish the darkness of our skies at night. However, PEC have taken steps to preserve this natural resource, and help save energy in the process. The starry night sky is a precious resource that adds to the beauty of the Texas Hill Country and PEC supports efforts to keep the stars shining bright for all members. Yesterday, the Mayor of Garden Ridge, Larry Thompson, proclaimed October 2020 to be Hill Country Night Sky Month for the City of Garden Ridge. You can view the Proclamation here.
Comal County recognizes October 2020 as Hill Country Night Sky Month in Comal County, and urges citizens to participate in the Comal County and Hill Country regional events and programs celebrating the Night Sky and promoting the ways in which communities are working to preserve it.
